Special Olympics Missouri

Who We Are

Mission: To provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

For more than 50 years, Special Olympics has been spreading the message: people with intellectual disabilities can – and will – succeed when given the chance.

What We Do

Special Olympics transforms lives through the power of sports, empowering nearly 5 million athletes in over 170 countries. As the world’s largest sports organization and a global social movement, we promote inclusion, build communities, and improve the health and well-being of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Through training and competitions in 16 Olympic-style sports, our athletes gain confidence, discover new abilities, and inspire others with their determination and achievements. From local events to the World Games, they showcase the limitless potential of people with intellectual disabilities.

Join us in celebrating their talents and triumphs at somo.volunteerhub.com.
