Opportunities From: United Way of Central Missouri

Volunteer: Volunteer tutors for middle school program

Volunteers are the heart of our programming: so we focus on providing meaningful interactions.  Volunteers in the adult can sign up for as little as 60 minutes each week. And the only requisite is patience and time.  Students may be speakers of other languages who need conversational skills.  Working with them will be a gratifying experience.

Currently, ABLE is seeking volunteers as reading tutors to meet one-on-one with 6th-grade students at Thomas Jefferson and Lewis and Clark Middle Schools for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. Volunteers who pass a background check will give one hour a week to help students achieve grade level. Working with middle school students is a great opportunity to learn more about the upcoming generation. ABLE provides training and materials. Training will be in August to prepare for tutoring that begins right after Labor Day.

Contact ABLE at 573/636-5558 or ABLELearningCenter@gmail.com for more information.
