The Shelter Worker is a temporary position assigned to work in person in a shelter before, during and/or after a disaster event. Registration for this volunteer service means that your name and contact information will be available for the agencies supporting the Cole County COAD through the Sheltering and Mass Care Subcommittee to contact when need arises in an emergency.

Tasks may include:

• Welcoming those impacted by disaster

• Support collection of registration information

• Guiding individuals throughout the shelter

• Other shelter duties such as setting up snacks, minor clean up, etc.

The Feeding Worker is a temporary position assigned to work in person assisting with the mass feeding operations before, during and/or after a disaster event. Registration for this volunteer service means that your name and contact information will be available for the agencies supporting the Cole County COAD through the Feeding and Mass Care Subcommittee to contact when need arises in an emergency.

Tasks may include:

• Welcoming those impacted by disaster

• Serving meals prepared by feeding partners

• Registration and accurate data reporting for partner agencies

• Other feeding duties such as organization, set up, taking out trash, clean up, etc.

The Debris Removal Worker is a temporary position assigned to work in person assisting with the debris removal operations before, during and/or after a disaster event. Registration for this volunteer service means that your name and contact information will be available for the agencies supporting the Cole County COAD through the Volunteer Management Subcommittee to contact when need arises in an emergency.

Tasks may include:

• Construction, residential, vehicle, etc. debris clean up and removal

• Chainsaw operation

• Plant, tree, mud, etc. clean up and removal 

• Sorting, moving, disposing of debris and materials

The Volunteer Construction Worker is a temporary position assigned to work in person assisting with construction operations before, during and/or after a disaster event. Registration for this volunteer service means that your name and contact information will be available for the agencies supporting the Cole County COAD through the Volunteer Management Subcommittee to contact when need arises in an emergency.

Tasks may include:

• Site preparation including demolition and material removal

• Framing, stabilizing and/or raising walls

• Site clean-up and maintenance

• interior or exterior painting

• Roof repair

The Donation Management Volunteer is a temporary position assigned to work in person at the donation management location before, during and/or after a disaster event. Registration for this volunteer service means that your name and contact information will be available for the agencies supporting the Cole County COAD through the In-Kind Donation Subcommittee to contact when need arises in an emergency.

Tasks may include:

• Welcoming those impacted by disaster or those wishing to make a donation

• Sorting, selecting, organizing, and displaying donated items

• Acting as a shopping assistant to those seeking items from the center
