Common Ground Community Building is seeking dedicated volunteers to join our Fundraising Committee, a small but mighty group that helps sustain our mission of supporting neighbors with essential services, dignity, and compassion. Committee members play a meaningful role in shaping donor engagement, special events, and community partnerships that keep our programs strong.
Common Ground hosts two major annual fundraisers: Trivia Night and our Celebration Concert. We’re looking for volunteers who enjoy planning, outreach, and community engagement to help secure the support that makes these events possible.
Roles and Responsibilities
Volunteers help with the behind‑the‑scenes work that strengthens our events, including:
- Soliciting sponsors from local businesses, civic groups, and community partners.
- Requesting auction and raffle items, both in person and through email/phone outreach.
- Tracking commitments, donations, and follow‑up needs.
- Helping plan event details, such as themes, prizes, and donor recognition.
- Supporting marketing efforts, including distributing flyers or sharing event information.
- Brainstorming new fundraising ideas to grow the impact of each event.
Volunteers are not required to make personal financial asks; outreach is done using prepared scripts and materials.
Ideal Candidate
This opportunity is a great fit for someone who:
- Enjoys talking with people and building community relationships.
- Is comfortable reaching out to businesses for sponsorships or donations.
- Is organized and able to track simple details or follow up as needed.
- Likes planning events and contributing creative ideas.
- Wants to support Common Ground’s mission in a meaningful, practical way.
- Has experience in fundraising, sales, or community engagement, though no experience is required.
Time Commitment
The Fundraising Committee meets once monthly to bi‑monthly, depending on where we are in the fundraising calendar. Meetings are flexible and can be scheduled in the morning, afternoon, or evening, and typically last about one hour.
