For survivors of domestic and sexual violence, moving into a new home is so much more than packing boxes—it represents safety, hope, independence, and the opportunity to begin again.
Rape and Abuse Crisis Service (RACS) is seeking compassionate volunteers to help a survivor transition from our shelter into their new home. By donating just a few hours of your time, you can help make what can be an overwhelming and emotional day a little easier.
Volunteers will assist with loading, transporting, and unloading household belongings while treating the survivor with dignity, respect, and confidentiality.
Volunteers Needed
- Individuals who are able to lift and move furniture and boxes.
- Volunteers with a pickup truck, trailer, or moving truck are especially needed.
- If available, moving equipment such as dollies, furniture straps, hand trucks, or moving blankets is greatly appreciated.
What to Expect
- Load household belongings at the shelter.
- Transport items to the survivor's new residence.
- Unload belongings at the new home.
- Work as a team to make the move as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Every box carried and every piece of furniture moved helps a survivor take another step toward rebuilding their life. Your willingness to give a few hours of your time can make a lasting difference during one of the most important moments in someone's journey toward safety and healing.
